RENEWABLE METHANOL

Green methanol is rising as a crucial element in the shift towards a more sustainable future. It’s produced from green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide, making it a renewable, carbon-neutral alternative to methanol derived from fossil fuels.

Methanol is a versatile chemical with a wide range of applications, including as a feedstock in the production of formaldehyde, acetic acid, and a variety of other chemicals. Traditionally, methanol is produced from natural gas or coal, processes that generate substantial carbon emissions. In contrast, green methanol is created using green hydrogen produced through electrolysis powered by renewable energy, and carbon dioxide, which can be captured directly from the atmosphere or industrial processes. This makes the production of green methanol significantly more environmentally friendly and nearly carbon-neutral.

One of the main advantages of green methanol is its potential as an energy carrier and a sustainable fuel. Green methanol can be efficiently stored and transported, making it suitable for a variety of energy applications. Furthermore, it can be used directly as a fuel in marine engines and even as a potential fuel for fuel cells, providing an accessible pathway for renewable energy use.
