RENEWABLE AMMONIA

Green ammonia is emerging as a crucial player in the global shift towards sustainable energy and industry practices. Produced by combining green hydrogen and nitrogen from the air, green ammonia harnesses the potential of renewable energy to offer a zero-carbon alternative to traditional ammonia production methods.

Ammonia has a wide array of uses across numerous industries, such as the fertilizer and energy industry. Typically, ammonia is produced using the Haber-Bosch process, which relies heavily on natural gas and produces significant amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. Green ammonia, however, is made using green hydrogen, which is produced through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy. This results in a production process that is virtually free of carbon emissions.

One of the key advantages of green ammonia lies in its potential as an energy carrier. Just like green hydrogen, it can be efficiently stored and transported, making it particularly suitable for long-distance and intercontinental energy transport. Additionally, green ammonia can be used directly as a fuel in certain types of engines or fuel cells, or it can be cracked to produce nitrogen and green hydrogen, providing another pathway for renewable energy use.
